The Goodwrench team is with out a doubt the most successful team in Nascar history. They were first known as the "Flying Aces" when this team was really started in 1984, with Richard Chilldress as the owner. Earnhardt has won 7 championships, 6 with this goodwench team and the black #3. Though the crew has had some changes, people different members have come and gone or changed jobs or teams, the same hardworking group of guys still exists today.

"RCR"also known as Richard Chilldress Racing, along with #3 car, owns the #31 Lowes car driven by Mike Skinner. The 3 and 31 teams swapped crew chiefs along the middle of last season. Larry McReynolds, Earnhardt's crew chief swapped places with Kevin Hamil, Skinner's crew chief. Chilldress and Earnhardt both agreed there needed to be some changes, the chemistry just wasn't there between Larry and Dale. Skinner and McReynolds combined to give the Lowe's team their first win in the Japan Race, The Suzuka 500.

With RCRcoming together with Andy Petree Racing and DEI.in the offseason, to form a Chevy alliance, things are looking up for 1999.
