RIVALRIES

Over the years Dale Earnhardt has developed numerous rivalries. Some very fierce battles on the race track have occured due to this competition. Early on it was the Dale and Darrel show. Earnhardt and Waltrip used to go at it every sunday. Dale was a young guy just coming on the seen and Darrel was the experienced veteran. These two combined for many fantastic finishes and highlights in the early 80's.

RUSTY WALLACE

By the mid 80's, Earnhardt was dominating the circuit. Then Rusty Wallace imerged and this created on the biggest rivalries of all. They both had black cars, Dale's #3 and Rusty's #2, they used call sundays back then "Black Sunday's". They collided on and off the track, many spinouts occured when these two got together. One of the worst wrecks I've ever seen was when Earnhardt tapped Rusty on the backstretch at Daytona in 91', he flipped 9 times on the grass. These two competitors still go at it today and remain among the best in the sport.
